Harlie Got Her Cast Today

My beautiful princess Harlie got her purple cast on today! She was super big. She is like a little super model, she poses for all her pictures. It's sp freaking cute! She is so excited to let everyone sign her cast. She says thank you after someone writes on it. She says it makes her arm feel better. So cute! Good job Harlie, you did awesome today! :) We love you and your cast is so pretty, it matches her dress that Gramie gave her. Such a pretty Princess! :)  

Harlie gets more presents from Grandma and Grandpa Carter and Uncle Kenny

Grandma and Grandpa Carter and Uncle Kenny came to visit Harlie and to bring her gifts for her broken arm. She was very excited to see them and was very excited about all her gifts. She is a very lucky girl. She has made out like a bandit with all her gifts and treats she has gotten for her hurt arm. She is definately milkin this one for all its worth. She is super cute and being a trooper and you can't even tell she is hurt by how she acts. She is doing good, and tomorrow she will be getting her hard cast on and it's going to be purple. She is super excited and can't wait for everyone to sign it. We all love you very much Harlie. Thanks for my gifts, says Harlie to her Grandma and Grandpa and Uncle Kenny!! She really likes all her fun treats you got her.

Harlie's Surgery 03-19-11

Harlie was so brave to get prepped for surgery...She was so brave getting her IV, it obviously was very painful and she did a good job!

Harlie was so brave that the Nurse Kelly gave her a Dora the Explorer board game. He was so nice and she loved that she got a Dora game.

Since we were at the 400 East campus because there was a miscommunication between doctors, they had to transfer Harlie to the new hospital on RiverRoad to the O.R. She was very scared! It was super sad.

The transporters were Jonathan and Jamie. They were very nice and tried to calm Harlie down because she was so scared. Hopefully we never have to experience this again.

Harlie did not like the fact that I could not ride in the back with her. She was really scared and I felt so bad. I guess it is policy now, that you can't ride in the back of the ambulance. It was very hard on me to not be able to ride with her. Well, I rode with her just in the front instead of the back.

Because Harlie was so scared Dr. Leitze dressed harlie's bunny in scrubs just like him so she wouldn't be scared. Doesn't bunny look so good. Harlie was crying a lot so the anesthesiologist gave Harlie some medicine that was going to make her loopy and eventually knock her completely unconsious. He gave her the medicine and it starting kicking in very quickly, Harlie sat straight up in the stretcher and siad, "I really just need some pretty princess shoes right now." The anesthesiologist said to Harlie, "But you already have really pretty princess shoes on." Harlie says, "Ya but I really just need some for my birthday." hahaha..Then the nurses and Dr.'s were trying to make her laugh and she randomly says, "Brownie" and then fell asleep. Then they took her into surgery. They came and got me after it was over to tell me how it went and it went perfect. They told me she was in recovery and that I could go back and see her. And this is what Harlie was looking like........---->

Recovery, Recovery, Recovery......She was on Morphine to help with the pain and she was sooooo sad and ornery. She was crying and trying to wake up at the same time, so it was weird for her. She was feeling weird and didn't really know how to react to it, so she just cried. It was really sad.

Trying to figure out just where she is...and not happy about it. Poor little girl.

Just signed the Discharge papers and she was ready to go home. The minute she woke up from surgery all she cared about and kept asking was where is my keegan at, where, where is my keegan at. I had to keep telling her he was staying with aunty Lona and she was so loopy she just couldn't grasp that and kept asking me where keegan was at. Poor girl had a very rough day. No food or water all day, no nap and it was just an awful day. So sad.

Here are the two pins that are holding her bones in place.

From another angel. She will have the pins and a hard cast on for 4-5 weeks and then if eveything looks good then they will remove the cast and the pins and she should make a full recovery. She will get her hard cast put on on Thursday the 24th and we will take pictures of it then, right now it is just splinted.

Harlie with all her gifts that family and friends and nurses gve her.....Balloons and Jelly Beans from NaNa and Grandpa, the Kitty cat and Flowers fron aunty Lona and uncle Eric, the Dora board game from Kelly the nice nurse, he thought Harlie did a good job getting prepped for surgery. The Pez dispencer, Rabbit Book, and pretty Braclet from Mommy and Daddy and the Black bear from Sysco, he thought that Harlie was super big and super brave and really liked her. Harlie got lots of gifts from everyone and she is doing great. Thanks to all our Family and Friends who checked up on her and had her in there thoughts and prayers. Thanks! Harlie is doing very well, in a little pain but that is to be expected. She is doing gret. Good job Harlie for being such a trooper and we all LOVE you very much.



My Harlie Bug Broke Her Elbow

Harlie was such a BIG girl today. She was at the Dr.'s and Orthopedic specialist from 2 o'clock until 6:30 last night. She was such a trooper and really brave with all these Dr.'s she didn't even know. I am so proud of her, I love you my Harlie Bug.

After she many hard x-ray's Harlie finally got her soft cast on til she has her surgery. She was so Big even though it was sooooo painful.

Her Bunny was there to help her through the day. She never left it once. Her Bunny can help her get through anything. 

Sitting with her NaNa...She loves her NaNa sooooo much. It was really nice to have her there, Cause Harlie really wanted her to come be with her.

She is sooo sweet, trying to smile after her very long exhausting day. She was ready for her french fries and root beer that NaNa promised her if she could be so Big and Brave.

The fianl touches before we left to go home. She was really done at that point and wanted her Grampa.

So here is Harlie's break, So it doesn't look too bad from this angel but Harie broke her elbow as you can see, also the fracture goes through the cartilage and into her growth plate. She will need a very extensive surgery to fix her elbow. They are going to try and re-align the bones from the outside with x-ray's and if they can't then they will make an incision and cut the arm open and align the bones from the inside. They would really perfer to put screws in to hold it in place but can't because the fracture goes through her growth plate, so doing so would stop her arm from growing corretly. They will pin it, cast it and in 4 weeks they will take them out and go from there. If they need to re-pin and cast it again until it is in the correct place. So hopefully everything will go well in Surgery today. I will keep you posted. I LOVE you my Harlie Bug! :)
